GRADING PROCEDURE

We will again use the same grading system as last year in music this year. Students will receive an A, B, C, D, or F again in music this year. Conduct grades will also be given. Every student starts each class period with an A. There will be 9 total grades each nine weeks.

It is up to the student to keep their A.
A = 93 – 100
B = 85 – 92
C = 75 – 84
D = 70 – 74
F = 69 or below

The student can lose their A for the day in music in several ways.
-20 points for being disrespectful
-20 points for being late to class
-20 points for not participating
-20 points for not having their assignments
-20 points for not being prepared

The student can gain extra points on their grade in several ways. Students can gain from 5 to 10 pints each class period for outstanding work, attending special programs or concerts, or for extra hours of practice. (students need to turn in a note and place it in the box)

CONDUCT GRADES:

Students will be given conduct grades in music. Conduct grades will be given according to how many marks they accumulate during the nine weeks. 0 – 1 mark equals an E, 2 to 3 marks equals an S, 4 to 5 marks equals an N and 6 or more marks equals a U.

MUSIC PROJECTS:

Each nine weeks a music project will be offered to the general music class students. The students have the option to do a project. The grade given on the project will take the place of another grade of the student’s choice during the nine weeks in general music.

MUSIC FOLDERS:

All General Music Class Members will need a music folder with brads and pockets. In their folder they will need paper and a pencil. These folders will be used for music notes and music. The first half of the class will be discussion of music history, music theory, etc. while the second half of the class will be singing.

All general music members, grades 6, 7, and 8 will need to bring their supplies with them to music the second full week of school beginning Monday, August 14th as their schedule states.
